The Habit Tablet™

The reality:
habits grow just as everything grows.

Motivation is what gets you started.
Habit is what keeps you going."

Jim Rohn

New behavior begins with desire - this is really the bottom line. You remember, or are watching your own children now, wanting to learn how to tie a shoelace. The message is received and transmitted via the nervous system and, after a little practice, shoe tying became (and will become for your kids) an unconscious, automatic activity. You can do it with your eyes closed. The neurological path is set.

What sets the neurological path?

Repetition. Nerve cells respond to repetition by reaching out to it's neighboring cell by way of a long sending fiber or "axon". With repetition, a bulb like element, or "bouton", grows at the end of the axon allowing the nerve cell to "button" onto it's neighbor so it can release the new information. Information is carried from cell to cell producing a new path. This new path is a delicate infant information thread with great potential.

How long does it take to form  this thread of information?
21 days.

Some researchers believe this neurological change occurs after 31 days. Either way, a new path is created in three to four weeks.
